No we didn't. When I made the choice to go back to college and get all my ratings in 2000, the airlines were actually making money, and Delta pilot had just signed a contract making them the highest paid hourly wage earners in history. The beginning of the millennium saw parabolic drops in mean airline pilot income and the systemic loss of pensions unprecedented to the industry.
