UAL ALPA is winding up for a Strike while UAL management is trying to sell or merge the airline (so far, they haven't shown any talent or interest for actually running an airline).
Labor at UAL has been brutalized under the pretense of shared sacrifice, but it appears that any future contract improvements will be through the "Full Monty" of section 6 negotiations.
Morale at UAL is in the toilets, the airplanes are broken down, pay is at the back of the pack, and applicants will be expected to strike by the union and expected to cross the picket line by management.
Work rules in the narrowbody fleet is as close to straight FARs as any "major" airline out there with no relief in sight. Customer satisfaction is last among US passenger airlines, and UA's internal goal for customer intent to repurchase is below 40% which they fail to meet.
UAL is a shell of it's former self. If you're a true unionist looking for a fight to restore pay and benefits and don't care if the place is "burned down"
in the process, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, don't waste your time.
