I know nothing about flying or even living in the Maldives but years ago I spent 3 weeks there while on vacation and it was a paradise on earth. We loved it so much that my family went there again the following year for another 3 weeks. First time we went to Malé and second time we went to Baros. It was a while ago but I'm sure the place is still a paradise.
Currency is Maldive Rufiyaa (pronounced roofiya, or roofies
) and you’ll get about 13 roofies for a buck. It is fairly expensive but only because they cater to tourists. Locals (and you’d become one if you decide to settle down there) use their own shops and it's much cheaper then.
