I know Richard Collins has a set out about IMC flying, etc. if you can stand him talking about his 210 every 30 minutes. While he can be annoying, he does have a pretty good knowledge of the mid-altitudes weather and has done a lot of work in various weather conditions.
My best piece of advice is to get up whenever you can in "safe" IMC. Overcast days following a cold front are great this time of year. If you live in an area that doesn't have a lot of flyable IMC (such as maybe Florida), this may be hard to come by. Even if you don't have a lot of instrument students, save some money and rent the plane when weather rolls in.
