I spoke to Capt Burkhill a few weeks ago while waiting for transport to the crew car park. He suggested then to me that life had been 'difficult' ever since the first few days after the incident. He suggested that the 'open door' to Willie Walsh had been 'closed'. Rumour has it that some CC trainers had been feeding the line that he had 'frozen' after the landing. Investigations failed to prove any such incidents, but anyone within BA will recognise this as typical within a dysfunctional/out of control CC organisation.
Again, just curiosity. But why would the CA on a wide body aircraft of a globally recognized airline even bother to care what CC trainers said about him?
Do the CC trainers control the airline? Is a CA's (or any other pilot's) professional reputation made or broken by what those people "say" about somebody? Has respect for the position of PIC at foreign airlines sunk below that of the U.S. airlines?
