Again, just curiosity. But why would the CA on a wide body aircraft of a globally recognized airline even bother to care what CC trainers said about him?

Do the CC trainers control the airline? Is a CA's (or any other pilot's) professional reputation made or broken by what those people "say" about somebody? Has respect for the position of PIC at foreign airlines sunk below that of the U.S. airlines?
