I think our industry is still going to be in the hole well past 2013. While it is true that the first guys will start retiring again by then, most airlines are overmanned right now and will probably be reluctant to hire in any significant numbers for some time. The days of $250 hr pilot jobs are all but over and will not be coming back. I hope I'm wrong. Fortunately for you, your background (Military Pilot) is highly desired in the Majors and you will be highly competitive when the time does come.

Like the fellas have mentioned before me, get a guard/rsv job, keep your contact list current, and get your ATP. I picked up one controlling UAVS for the ANG. One of your brothers in arms (MC Hornet driver) just joined our unit. PM if you want his contact info. I sleep well at night knowing I have an ANG job that is in such high demand that I can be on fulltime orders with one phone call. Best of luck.
