Anyone else ever notice that airlines seem to paint their jets in new livery either right before they declare bankruptcy, or immediately upon coming out of it.

Sometimes it looks like every new CEO wants to "mark his territory" by repainting the fleet. We used to have a number of paint jobs in use at the same time, causing some airplanes to emerge from maintenance with "clown noses", mismatched engine nacelles, etc.
