Here is a nose shot of one of the NASA Gulfstream aircraft. They use these to train the shuttle pilots in the approach to landing phase. The left seat is configured just like a Shuttle and the Shuttle pilots are in full garb while the other NASA pilot sits in the right seat with a *regular* set of controls and basically acts as the safety pilot (This information was told to me by another NASA pilot who happens to be a former squadronmate of mine. Man...you never know who you are going to run into at airshows! I didn't get to look inside the plane this time around.)
