I asked some med questions to a guy I know at CX and his reply follows:
"Cathay's flight physical, in particular, is a box checking exercise and it is low threat. It is done in-house by a CX flight doctor. You may be mistaking the Japanese flight physical for the Chinese version. The Japanese are highly discriminatory about a prospective pilot's health which cooled any interest in flying Nippon for me. It is extensive. Cathay requires all pilots to undergo an evaluation once a year (FAA requires 2X/yr for Captains) for a nominal fee. As for radial keretonomy, I believe it might be a disqualifier. Contacts/glasses are not a problem. Most of my classmates were older and therefore wear glasses while at the controls. "
