Default AGE 65 By 2011

The federal Govm’t (FAA) is never in a hurry to change a federal regulation unless it serves them, (reduces workload or justifies their jobs).

Best cast scenario is possibly 2011 before any age 65 rule becomes effective and then it will be phased in over possibly 2 years.

And as the link below indicates any grand fathering or waivers "will be very difficult to grant."

All the hand ringing about this issue would seem to be premature.

Just my 2 cents

sorry meant to post this at age 60 forum.

Yeah I'm wondering where 2011 comes from too? Since they are saying there will just be discussion on it for the next 18 months to whenever and then they will try to make a firm policy I can believe that it will take that long. Are you just saying 2 years for the discussion/comment period and then another 2 yrs to get fully phased in puts us in 2011??

Yes, exactly, and the NPRM is not published yet. And then it has to be open for comment after that. So the clock has not even begun ticking yet.

I would not expect to see the NPRM until next year. So chunk in at least 18 months just for final comment ending sometime late 2009. Then the final rule will have to be written (2010) and it will have a phase in with a final effective date of one to two years after that. (2011).

Remember this is not an emergency for anyone in the eyes of the FAA. Especially them
