Default Legislative age 60 update

My apologies if this is a repeat topic, but what's the latest information regarding any legislative action regarding the age 60 issue?

Is there any websites with up to date info?

Thanks

ANN-"The Senate passed its fiscal year 2008 Transportation Appropriations bill in September, which included a bill to change the mandatory pilot retirement from age 60 to 65. The bill must be reconciled with the House version, which passed in July, and then signed by President Bush."

I dont think a bill will pass this year with the change....next perhaps but not this year. Just my own thoughts. Its coming, and not soon enough for some and there are those who wish it wouldnt come at all. But the fact is that certainly within 18 months I suspect the rule to change. Could it happen this year... sure.... but I just believe it will languish for another session or so.

With it incorporated in the FAA Appropriations Act, its a matter of when and how the Act finally gets signed into law. Currently, the FAA is functioning with a Continuing Resolution that was a 3 month extension while Congress reconciles the Act and sends it to the CIC. However, the Prez has said he will veto the Act as it currently is. So while the political machine grinds on, we wait. Another day, another number.

I think you will see it stripped out of joint resolution bills this year.... I think it is dead on arrival at the prez's desk. Next year yes... this year probably not... why you ask.... I dont have a good answer for that...

When will the next step come? Is there a Gov't web site that we can track this bill? It looks like FedEx and UPS are both planning on it passing sooner than later. FedEx was slow in hiring this year and UPS looks like a slow '08.

The next step is when Congress sends the Act, one of 12 appropriation bills for the fiscal year which started Oct 01, to the POTUS. Assuming the Age 65 bohica stays in the Act, the 3 month extension will expire late Dec. Then it depends on the Prez (veto possible) until it becomes the law of the land.

I hope it is accidently thrown away by an illegal immigrant cleaning crew. Everyone forgets all about it and life goes on as it should and has for years, 60 and done.
