You can still fly past 60 now. Is it unfair you could not be a Captain at 22 either? That is not age discrimination?

Default Discrimintation?

If age 60 is age discrimination, how is age 65 not?

Sorry, but there are many jobs available for you after 60, while your already collecting a pension to boot! I have sympathy for those whose pension was terminated by their airline, but congress should focus on bills that force those companies to fulfill their promises when they are profitable again. Not provide a financial windfall to a few at the expense of the rest.

So you are saying that it is ok to perpetuate a law that strips a person of their property and status only because they are a certain age and that law is just because it allows younger people to get promoted sooner.

You are. If you claim it's discrimination then stand against ALL discrimination. But we all know it has nothing to do with discrimination, don't we....
Instead of asking rhetorical questions, why not answer the question, "Is not allowing a legal adult at the age of 18 to obtain an ATP discrimination?" Since it is base solely on age, will YOU stand up for ALL age discrimination and not take a partial solution. Let the "men" of AAPAD be true to their values / beliefs and petition congress for a change to all age restrictions not what only benefits them.

An easy but faulty argument because the truth is that it will not pass the reality test. Possession is 9/10 of the law. You can deny a privilege before it is allowed but not after it has been earned.

there you have it...you own words. its a PRIVILEGE to fly...not a right. And if its a privilege it can then be taken away WHENEVER the granting authority so decides.

This is absurd. That is not what was said. From your posts you seem really sharp. I am glad that you feel so passionate about your opinion. Like I said in another post, did you feel the same way when you were 40?

Probably so....but not nearly as vocal has he is now. Everyone that is 58+ that has gotten so outspoken about this, maybe they felt this way when they were younger, but never said anything "out loud". Of course I am in my early 30's and I feel that it is discrimination....by principle(65 is too). I never plan on working past 60 though....I will quote a post I read earlier..."keep your FE wife, your First Officer House and your Captain Paycheck"....I cannot imagine "HAVING" to work beyond that age. Can you say financial irresponsiblity? I guess we grow up in an age where we know we cannot depend on a pension or anyone other than ourselves for our financial security when we retire!

Klako,

Possession is 9/10 of the law. We possess those jobs, you don't. Seems to me that you should be happy now.

I prefer to look at it as the "circle of life." Didn't you see the Lion King?
