Bush has already said that he'd veto the FAA Reauthorization Bill, so this issue's dead by the legislative path.

does anyone know when the last day of congress is, and also does the legislation go away if it isn't signed by the last day of the session?

Default goto apaad.org

I suggest going to apaad.org and doing some research. There are many paths for this to pass. You have a voice in congress, I suggest you use it, the pro age 65 will.

The age 60 rule will chance one way or another and soon. Over two thirds of the House and one half of the Senate are now co-sponsors of a bill to increase the mandatory retirement from age from 60 to 65 for airline pilots. Progress requires that the age 60 rule changes now and Congress is finally weary of ALPA's dirty politics. Even the union PAC fund blood money can't buy out Congress any more.

Default we shall see

Klako,
We shall see. I think if people don't agree with the merit of change they need to be vocal. I'm sure it will happen sooner or later, but I still prefer later.

The age 60 rule forced me out of my airline career in Dec 06 and I will likely never again be allowed to fly for my former company as an airline captain. The damage has been done to pilots like me and many before me. The age 60 rule is unjust by any credible legal standard.

My message to every pilot now flying for an airline and all aspiring airline pilots is that although they may not realize it now, they will very likely want to at least have the choice of whether to continue flying past age 60 or not. I can guarantee that the majority will not want to stop flying when they reach age 60. Now is the last chance that junior pilots may have to protect their future. A change to the age 60 rule can occur only if everyone will now insist that APLA and APA stop using their PAC moneys to perpetuate the age 60 rule.
