My take on this is that this age 65 rule was pushed by Top senior wide body international CAs who wanted to stay on longer so they can make more money. Definitely not pushed by majority of pilots or the management. Management has nothing to gain by keeping the most highly paid group that works the least amount for another 5 years.

Age 65 was lobbied hard by special interest group backed by senior int'l CAs and I am sure a lot of money was handed over to grease the wheel in DC. This administration was definitiely behind it. It was bound to happen once the FAA took the position that it will follow ICAO rule which, by the way was also pushed by senior CAs.

Too bad it could not wait another 5 to 10 years. I spoke to UAL CA on a commuting flight and he said age 65 will definitely slow hiring at UAL because many will stay beyond 60.

Speed: Is that picture from Mt Roberts in Juneau? It looks like the tram lines going up the mountain. Beautiful place, just wondering.

Falconjet,

No, it is not Mt Roberts in Juneau. Mt. Roberts is beautiful. This one is from North of Vancouver. I took the shot when I was up there a few years ago. It is a beautiful place. Very serene.
