I bet you weren't saying that about all the guys before you that retired at the KNOWN retirement age of 60. You guys reaped the rewards of everyone in front of you who retired at 60, did you not? Did you fight for those before you to be able to stay past 60 or did you look forward to them retiring so you could move up in the ranks? I know the answer
I am so tired of hearing that type of wining BS!
In the real world people retire when they want to, not because of some stupid notion that they should move over just so younger people can advance in their careers a few years earlier.
I believe Age 65 extended YOUR career by 5 years as well. So what you want is MY left seat 5 years earlier.
So who is really the greedy one, Boxes?
All it really did was push the age back 5 more years till someone can get hired. How is that so good? Now you have to wait till you're 29 vs 24 to get a job. Did that extend anything? Nope, just delayed it. Why anyone would want to put up with TSA and the FAA breathing down their neck for another 5 years is beyond me. I'd rather take the lump sum while it's still there, and enjoy it rather than wait for the PBGC to come in and take my retirement from me.

It is the law now so learn to adapt
That's not always the case and you know it. Talk to the air traffic controllers (you know, those GOVERNMENT employees) and see what they have to say about it. 56 and they are history. Some age discrimination, eh?
Poof- You are a lawyer now, NOT a Pilot. You may know about the age 65 ruling- but you were NOT an ATP, ever... Some pilot is paying you to change why they can't be an ATP at a YOUNGER age. You personally know they are mature, skilled and good enough.

Yea right...just like the 60 year old fighter pilots being checked out on the Raptor and the 55 year year PGA tour player swinging with the young guys. Funny, all I remember was the collective cry of the baby boomers complaining of the law when it was 60!

It was NEVER YOUR left seat to begin with. What about the guys ahead and older than you that gave up that seat for you to move up? More than half of the working pilots had their more junior years extended. How would you feel if you were allowed to work beyond age 60 but had to go back a seat and fly fo? Bet you wouldn't be so interested in flying beyond 60 anymore.

Call it-
That's why I'm paying ALPA 2%...so they can take the lawyer out back with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch and "explain" the situation. I'm not a lawyer, and I shouldn't have to think like one. What exactly are my dues paying for, anyway?
Seriously. Those ALPA National stooges are supposed to have our backs when non-flying idiots try to screw things up. Including Age 65.
