Default Can FE's or Ropes over 60 come back?

These people are NOT retirees. They are still on property as FE's. Can they Bid back to CAPT. when a Bid comes out?

We'll have to wait and see, but I think the answer will be "no".

As long as they aren't retired, there is nothing in the proposed law that says they can't bid whatever seat their system seniority would hold. The key is RETIRED. If they're still on the list, they are entitled to exercise their seniority.

It depends on how the rule is written.

If it is a blanket statement saying that the mandatory retirement age is 65 it would be up to the company. But if the rule was written that pilots born after March 1, 1947 could fly to 65 then they wouldnt be able to come back.

I am 99% certain that if you still have a seniority number, you will be able to bid back into whatever you can hold. There are too few 60+ FE's out there for congress to give a shiite about.

We can still fight this. As far as I know, nothing official has even been said yes. We have the power to fight the deterioration of our industry. Anyone who already retired should not be allowed to come back.

As bad as changing age 60 will affect every pilot at airlines, changing age 60 is terrible for cargo airlines (FedEx, UPS, Astar, ABX, etc...) Press for this to be a rule in your contract! I don't mind if these cargo airlines pay passover pay (VERY EXPENSIVE!), but please don't let these older guys bump captains down to FO, or FO's on to furlough!

IF this comes to be, all pilots under 60 should have a sickout and refuse to fly with anybody senior to them who is over 60.

Should take about a week or so to repeal any changes if the younger pilots stand tall.

Ryan,
How can someone who is already a Capt be bumpted? If they bid Capt and are awarded it then they join the ranks of Captians already there! Senority gives them the first choice on upgrades available. Not the ability to bump someone junoir in a higher seat position!? So the senior F/Os are the people that are going to feel this pain!

(I'm one of the F/Os that would be delayed BTW )

But, this thread isn't about guys who have already retired. Its about over-60 pilots still actively flying as F/Es. If they haven't retired, they should be allowed to exercise their system seniority and hold whatever seat they can.

Now guys who have retired are a different matter. They're out. If they want to come back, they can do so at the bottom of the seniority list.
