2BR house in Seattle, 1150$ a month. I'm splitting it three ways so it works out to around 380$ a month. That does not include utilities.

own a home with my wife 3 bedroom two bath on 6 acres

mortgage ~1700 we put down nearly 40% though in anticipation of the low wages and did not want a high mortgage. My wife has a great job

Do the math.

I was driving about 400 miles a week during college and figured out that the cost of gas, mx and everything on the car made rent only a hundred or two more per month. When I threw in the time lost to commuting it was even bigger. This was four years ago when gas prices were about half what they are now.
