Rent/freeloaded. But I got married last Nov, now I'm supporting her through college. Yeah, I didn't go airline, first flight instructed, flew 135 freight, now I'm at a Piper/TBM rep' flying nice and new shiny planes. Happen to be in Toronto tonight though.

When I was in Syracuse, I was in a crashpad w/6 others? I think? Thing is, very few times was everyone there, usually I had the room to myself. Rent: $150.
Years ago, I bought a travel trailer, and pulled it from place to place. It was more expensive for the plug in fees than sharing an apt, but it was all mine, and my fridge and dresser traveled with me. I always knew what was going to be inside.
I'd like to live at home and save a few $. Would it be smart to commute 2-3 hrs (drive) and sit reserve in a crash pad? I've heard it's better to drive than fly to work, and I figure home isn't too far away.
Share a house near the beach with three others in Southern California. Three bedrooms; $950 per person. I'm sure there are cheaper places out there, I'm mostly to increase my post count.

Not to that point myself yet, but wargaming it, if you can find a cheep crash pad the drive would probably beat the flight. However with current price of gas you're looking at a tank each trip back and forth and that may raise your expenses to the point that finding an appartment and roommate (or running your own crash pad) may be cheaper. Don't forget about the extra miles on your car and higher frequency of oil changes, tire changes, 15K mile inspections etc. From what I've seen, in other threads, it's best to live in base.

Thanks Clue...those are all good points. It'd only be for a few months while a buddy of mine finishes his current lease.
