Hey, what does LAHSO mean? I just finish reading the thread about the UAL A-320 @ ORD.

at many older airports DCA comes to mind the have intersecting runways and at times tower will issue LAHSO instructions....a crew should NEVER accept that clearance if they feel they will be unable to comply......

that and usually on the atis theyre letting pilots know whether or not lashos are in effect and effective runway to use
...but again the final decisions to accept or decline a lasho lies with the pilot

I believe so. Regardless, I make sure my students don't take LAHSO clearances until after the PPL and only if they know for sure they can land within the distance. I've only gotten a LAHSO once, and the available distance was the same as the runway where I'm based from.

Yessir.
Even as a private and beyond, you should never accept a LAHSO if there is any doubt in your mind that you won't be able to get down and stopped by the hold short point after flying a normal approach.

We just tell ATC unable. Our company doesn't authorize us to comply with LAHSO operations. If we have to take a delay, then thats what we do.

I second that. Our GOM also prohibits us from accepting a LAHSO clearance. Either clear the runway or I'll wait.
