Normally at most airlines pilots are hired into First Officer positions (second in command to the Captain). A street Captain is someone who was hired by the company to be a captain from the start, and bypassing being a First Officer.
Line Pilot is a term that is used loosely. Generally speaking, a line pilot is someone who has finished their training and is now out flying the airplanes from point to point. Not to be confused with the term "line holder", which is someone who is not on reserve. A Line Holder is someone who has a regular schedule for the entire month, and knows at the start of the month where he or she will be basically every day of the month (flying, at home, at an overnight etc.) A line holder is someone with a set schedule.
A reserve pilot is someone who is "on call" to the airline. There are many different forms of reserve and they are all different at each airline. But generally speaking, a reserve pilot is someone who is not a line holder and the company can use him or her as needed on their scheduled days of work.
Technically, both reserve pilots and line holders are "flying the line" since they are done with training and conducting scheduled flights.
