Default Renter's Insurance

Being a young and dumb private pilot should I get renter's insurance? I know its expensive in Alaska but, with the way things are up here I dont really want to be caught without it. Also, how many posts do I need to PM?

You should always have renter's insurance if you are a renter. It's not very expensive at all. When you look up the policies, you'll see it covers a number of things.

AOPA has some affordable plans. As a Private Pilot, its not that expensive.

Default Definitely...

Definitely get it!! I just bought my policy from Avemco. I think I have 500K liability and 5K for aircraft damage. Plus I added the multi-engine and it cost me $285 for the entire year. AOPA is good too, but if you plan on renting multi-engine, it doesn't cover that. It's a pretty trivial cost in the instance you put the plane down into someone's house and the owner's insurance doesn't cover it.

I got mine from Avemco also, I think it was around 150 to 180 or there abouts for just single engine coverage. Most FBO's insurance will cover the damage if you wreck the plane but most likely they will make you pay the deductable and having the a/c damage coverage will cover that.

Damn, was I thinking the wrong thing.
I thought this thread was about renter's insurance for the home. I just had a suitcase stolen out of my car last week with my laptop, passport, and a bunch of clothes inside. Wouldn't ya know, car insurance doesn't cover theft...renter's insurance does. Too bad I didn't have it!
