Default Working as a commercial pilot: paying for medical?

This summer I am going to be working for a small airport. They basically pay us to take a reporter up to report the traffic conditions (chicago) back to a dispatcher. I need to get my medical renewed. It was a 1st class medical but its been over a year since my exam so its now a 3rd class medical. I am scheduled to get one done and its about 100 bucks... do employers normally pay for your medical exams or is that just a cost I am expected to cover? Is that something worth asking?

When I first got my medical exam a year or two ago, I had to have it sent to Ok city due to a medical condition that occurred some time ago. Ok city then issued my first class. As nothing has happened regarding that medical condition, will the AME likely issue me a first class or will it have to go to Ok city again?

No idea on your 2nd issue, but if they don't offer to pay for it, and it being a summer position, I'd say you're on your own, and appreciate you got an easy job for summer.

I have no answer to the post but you should have posted this in the "Pilot Health" section. You should be able to get an answer from there.

Some places pay, others don't. As a general rule, if it's not a professional flight crew environment (91 corporate, 91K, 135, 121), most places expect you to cover the cost, especially if it is only seasonal employment. Even in professional crew companies, some folks still have to pay for them.
