American interviews and class dates

True that.
I hope I never need those 20+ numbers either, but I am sure glad I have them, just in case.
I have seen plenty of people hurt, or saved, for many years, by a single seniority number.
If things keep moving non stop for the next 18 years, my decision will likely have been wrong. If there is any kind of hiccup in the airline industry over the next 18 years then those numbers may save me (or may not).
Historically the odds are on my side, whether 23 numbers will make a difference..... who knows.
YMMV

Really, you're talking about a decision with a potentially decades-long effect, for only a few months of pain. I was an FE for all of 6 months.

That's correct. They explain that they do this so your seniority is not affected by anything out of your control like the sim breaking down or canceling because of extreme weather or your partner being sick etc. I think this happened to someone in my class. Their original start date was moved later by a couple weeks, but they still have the same seniority.

OK, so to clarify, let's say I'm the oldest and want to preserve my #1 status by choosing the 1st training end date, no matter the base/equipment. What I really want, however, is say the 75/76 in MIA, so I put in a bid for that equipment/base after the fact. Maybe I end up with the worst case scenario like you mention above, and that's ok, but if the company wants to switch my training to the 75/76 any time, even before I class up for my original equipment, and I get delayed and am now effectively the last one from my IIRC class to finish training, I'm still senior to everyone else in my class because it's based on the original IIRC training equipment selection completion date only, right?
Good to meet you too.
