I think many are used to the old paradigm where it would take an entire career to get the base/equipment you wanted, whereas in the future, that may be possible in a few years, give or take.
With the bus delivery schedule and the slow, but steady vaporization of the S80's, I'll bet you could hold DFW Airbus in 18 months if you got hired today. That of course, assumes a steady hiring at current rate.

Would the same hold for LAX Airbus?

I heard that the leases were so cheap it made sense not to get rid of them.

Probably not.
There are many flow through LAX guys and gals trying to get back there, plus who knows how many other people.

The last bid had 12 LAX FO positions, and they all went senior to the current "plug" guy, who is approx 1200 senior to the current bottom of the list guy.
Definitely wouldn't expect LAX for a "while".

LAX could start moving, but it hasn't started yet, and if it does I know personally, approx 20 guys senior to me who want that spot, could be many more I don't know.

The more senior guys move out of MIA the happier I'll be, so you guys go ahead and keep on move'n West and/or North. Call me Captain Jack Sparrow with a 737I as my "Pearl".

Sorry, been a bit busy getting wined and dined

As of yesterday the word was 135ish S80s remaining by ye2014 then retiring 27/yr through ye2019. Of course we discussed it very briefly today with the training mgr and he said through 2018 maybe, so I think there's quite a bit of uncertainty or maybe just not enough crosstalk. Also mentioned that they'll be training on the 80 steadily all year, so I think at least the next couple of months will continue to have some S80 slots in each class (at least until the Dec hires are unlocked I'd guess).

It looks like we all will have 3-4 weeks between indoc and acft ground (76, 'bus and 80) .

Junior pilot is 10107, DFW S80.

Any word from your conversations if the 73 Miami will be a choice for the next couple of classes? I got a 4/22 class date and am hoping for just that!

First, congratulations!

Haven't really heard anything to that effect, but it wouldn't surprise me. Some of these other guys will have much more insight than me as to how the recent bids may have opened more slots. DFW is apparently a bit of an anomaly for now as SLT reductions and earlier-newhire seat locks create vacancies for us newbies.
