Default JCBA Questions

I've been looking back over the MOU/MTA timeline and it says the JCBA will be complete 30 days after SCS, then not agreed upon items go to arbitration to be decided within 60 days. So we will have the new JCBA within 90 days of SCS, is this correct and still the plan?

Also, will the pay rates, vacation, and other agreed upon items in the MOU/MTA be the same or is everything back on the table? I've heard it both ways.

I understand this original target was prior to USAPA's legal attack and injunction attempt (they are essentially attempting to nullify the MOU by disputing the legality of some of its provisions). I've heard it's still within the realm of possibility though, but it is unsure what impact those developments will have on JCBA or SLI timeline. A major aspect involves just when the NMB will declare us to be a single-carrier and that is the next click. I believe the JCBA is supposed to provide 80-something million of contract adjustments over 6 years, but what that will encompass isn't known until bargaining or arbitration is completed.

thought parker is on record as saying money issues are done.....implementation and small adjustments are all that's left in the jcba. I.E. what we see is what we got.

Now APA and USAPA I have seen, say JCBA opens everything up.

If Parker's history is any indication, the piggy bank is closed. That 80 mill in adjustments I believe have already been spent in the adjustments APA used to raise per diem and the other stuff they changed...


I could be completely wrong, as I haven't been following too close the past few months...

The JCBA has already implemented the $87 million in contract improvements. There will be no more money to be had according to the MOU, if there is something that can not be agreed to then it goes to arbitration. So what you see is what you get as far as the almighty dollar goes. There are pay adjustments to be made according to the MOU, but other than that, we are stuck with group payrates for 10 years or two contract cycles.

Agreed. No MORE money, but modifications in WHERE some of that value is applied. The way things are shaping up with Parker (especially if 117 turns into a dog fight), I'd expect arbitration.

The pay parity review is still in effect.

Parker and crew are rapidly wearing out their welcome, by placing old guard AA types into key positions, then allowing these idiots to try the same old management style that didn't work in the past. John Conrad is an idiot! He gets to emotional and too personal when it comes to negotiations. When he was the pilot rep for the company 12 years ago, he was an impediment to advancement, so it is no surprise that he hasn't changed a bit since then. He was placed on the company negotiating team about a month ago, and soon after that all progress on the reserve issues came to a screaching (?) halt.

We will see how this all works out.

There are some improvements to be had for both sides that are no cost items, but it appears that AAL has drawn a line in the sand on this reserve and FAR 117 stuff, so don't think that we will anything in the near future.

We, both the AA pilots and US Air, pilots need to realize who the real enemy is here and start working together to resolve the issues. US pilots filed a lawsuit early and that could be diverting necessary resources away from the battle, not good in my mind.

I realize that the items that have not been agreed upon will go to arbitration but what happens when the arbitrator is finished? Does whole JCBA go out for member ratification? If so hopefully all parties involved realize how far we are behind Delta and United in work rules. Pay parity is nice but there's no reason we shouldn't have work rules that rival or exceed the other two to go along with it.
