Default ALPA

I'm hearing rumors of ALPA replacing APA at American (C&R and FB push). I see sooooo much irony if it happens. Yet, anything has got to be better than APA!

I believe you are referring to the VP email.

Weren't all the usapa officers pretty much the same guys that were alpa officers?m I fail to see the difference it would make. If someone sucks then they suck regardless of who they work for.

As a newbie that email impressed me. It's good to see someone air their inside thoughts who has been in the mix despite whatever backlash he might have expected. Found a lot of points quite valid.

Please, no. There's a huge conflict of interest with ALPA being the bargaining agent for most regional airlines.

Now, I'm totally onboard with a new 'Allied Pilots Association' representing AA, DAL, UAL, SWA and maybe even Hawaiian and/or Alaska. Poach the best talent from other Unions (and APA) hire/retain professional negotiators and *ahem* better lawyers, refrain from the bloated organizational pitfalls and keep it all at 1% of higher wage legacy carrier dues.

We do have really good people on property at APA, but we could really use the outside talent and, um synergies - of having a merged association.

It'll be the same old stuff.

Focus more on getting some new faces and new ideas to the table. Until people accept that their way might not be the best way, nothing will ever get better.

Exactly. Doesn't matter what name is on the door, until the "leadership" and AArogant ways of thinking change, it'll be the same story next contract.

I agree with the premise that the organization name itself means little. It's the leadership and membership WITHIN the individual airline that makes the organization work or not.

There is thick irony in your continued labeling of those of us who are on the LAA as AArogant. Look in the mirror. I suppose the only thing that'll make you happy is if we all bow to the all encompassing superiority of everything USAirways, because if by God we disagree with your superior way of doing things, we must be AArogant.

How about we try to start thinking as one rather than two or three airlines.

How about the APA throwing everything in the USAir contract in the garbage and doing things their way because "if it wasn't invented here, we don't want to know about it."? I'm not saying everything USAir did was great, but we've had to change a hell of a lot more stuff than you guys did, but you guys are crying about it way more. Tons of stuff in the East and West contracts were gutted and no one even asked the USAir guys about it. It wasn't invented here, so to hell with it.

Can I refill your Kool Aid?
