10 years ago people wanted southwest. Now it's Delta. 1998 it was United.
AA will probably get at least on par in 2020ish.
If it was me I would choose United because I like their bases and higher percentage of widebody.
The main factor should be where you want to live. With the thought that some small bases may not last forever.

And you can be bumped off a scheduled deadhead at end of a trip if it's a full flight. That's some bull****.
The work rules at AA are horrible. Anyone who says they aren't has just been there long enough to forget how it should be or was.

"I have a buddy who is 43 and got hired at AA Feb 2016. He will retire right around 1000 which is better than 1700 but that is splitting hairs."
Guy in the example, that would retire at 600, is 38. AA has 520(?) guys aged 38-42. That's the difference between the 600 and 1000 estimate.

Slice,
I have a buddy who is 43 and got hired at AA Feb 2016. He will retire right around 1000 which is better than 1700 but that is splitting hairs.
I wouldn't say UA has 50%+ more CAT 4 WB (including 764). Counting off airline pilotcentral AA has 112 to UA's 140. Now that is today and not 5 years from now but we all have orders in to buy more. I would say it is closer to 25% more. The great thing about AA is we pay in CAT bands vs aircraft. So a 787 pays same as 330, 777, 350, 764 which isn't true at DL or UA. But again we are all splitting hairs when it comes to Top 3. It'll change minimum 3 more times in a 20+ year career.

I missed that DL 767-400's are in their larger pay bracket. They end up with 11% in the LWB pay group.

Those planes all pay the same at UAL except we don't have any 330s but, then again, we have 747s.
United Airlines 2017 Fleet Plan
747 (12) (20 current with 8 retirements in 2017)
777 (88) (75 current with 13 deliveries in 2017)
787 (35) (30 current with 5 deliveries in 2017)
764 (16)
Total 151 planes that pay max WB pay. It is true the 747 Fleet is scheduled for retirement in 2018, however, that is the year we are scheduled to begin taking delivery of 35 A350s which would bring the total WB Fleet to 175.
United Airlines Fleet Website
Because of the Delta Snap Up these numbers can now be increased by 4.4% and there will be one additional pay raise of 4% on January 1, 2018.

Due to pay differences it can be hard to make exact comparisons.
E.g. - UA - 757 doesn't pay 767 pay and some of the n/b's don't pay the same as other n/b's. DL does the same (different pay rates) with its n/b fleet.

$172.93 x 4.4% = $180.53
or
$10/$170= 6% less 2017
then 2018
$180.53 x 4% = $187.75
Does AA get a 2018 pay raise? If not then $17/170 = 10% less
and assuming for the moment you ARE speaking of the 757-200 I would argue that it is a poor comparison since it was banded with the 737 because of arguments during the SLI, but historically at UAL it had paid much higher. A better comparison would be 737 as that is the biggest fleet by far and it appears that pays $160 for AA and $180 for UAL as of 1/17 for FOs and then $187 as of 1/18.
