Looking for any advice anyone can offer on living as a drifter while making first year FO pay. Currently in crash pad while at base and looking to spend my days off traveling and moving around the US on couches and cheap hotels, Renting cars and eating cheap. I have the energy to stay on the move and the good fortune of not yet being married. Looking for advice on how to save money and any other tips or resources to increase quality of life....thanks

Why would you want to do those things on your days off? That is what you will do on your trips! :p

Very True, but im dumping everything (car, clothes, furniture, credit cards..etc) which means I have no home to go back to on days off.

Holy Smokes! When I saw the title of the thread, I thought someone was looking for me again. :)

eye, do a search of the forums. This topic has been discussed in some way, shape or form before. The bottom line is that vagabonding is a possible lifestyle for the right people. You have to be organized, thrifty, flexible, easy going, and not averse to change and uncertainty.

Which airline do you fly for that allows you so much time to move around? Perhaps I should get a job there, eh?

Jack Kerouac.....that is the second time in 2 days someone has mentioned his name. After doing some research looks like he has got it all figured out in my perspective. The Irony is that he was born in the same town and went to the same school as my grandparents......
