I am starting this thread because I am too lazy to call my friends in ATL. Anyone know what corporate discounts DAL employees get?

Examples I am looking for:

NWA 25% discount off of Sprint plans, 17% off on Verizon.
75% discount on FedEx Next Day and 2nd Day Air
Variable discount from Panasonic Electronics.
EPP/VPP prices on various domestic/foreign new auto purchases

What got me curious is a FedEx/Kinkos clerk in HNL told me that DAL and SWA both lost their FedEx discounts due to "incidents" in their storefronts and also regarding travel involving FedEx senior management. Since its only a single source I figured I would ask here, although I am interested in the Cell phone discounts and Panasonic since I am in the market for a new cell service and a new plasma TV.:D

For Delta, no FX or UPS discounts, only DHL. We get Sprint, Verizon, Apple, Panasonic, GE, and a bunch of others. There is an employee website which has all the info on it.

Delta's discount with AT&T isn't very good: 10% on service, and 20% on phones. I was recently told that there is a Boeing discount available to anyone who operates Boeing equipment (I wonder how AT&T would figure that out). That discount is 25% on service and 50% on equipment. I don't have a FAN number for either discount.

We also get the X plan on Ford products and the Preferred Supplier Discount on GM products. (Not that you can't get a great deal on one of those cars anyway).

Wow, it's true about FDX. That should go over like a turd in a punchbowl since DAL will be the major carrier in and out of MEM.

Thanks for the info...

Being the biggest carrier at any airport never stopped the management nimrods from screwing up a good deal for the employees.

Well hopefully that can help us get the FDX discount back, - I used it quite a bit. The DHL discount is not very good.

The DHL discount is great! The only problem is it's become a hassle to use and the DHL service/reliability blows beyond description.

I was using it heavily a couple years ago and the on-time success rate I experienced was less than 60%. No Joke. Not to mention every time I was in the depot there were large (insert joke here) customers complaining about damage and tardiness.

I hope we get the FedEx discount back. I understand Delta was po'd about some upper level FedEx types abusing the system. Although, to be fair, I personally witnessed a Delta employee shipping 20 computers at the ATL FedEx station in 2000. Obviously using the discount for his home business. We'll see.

For the record. UPS doesn't offer discounts to it's own employees, much less off-line. Sorry. Try the Fedex deal.

The DHL discount is great!

Dude- not only is the discount minimal, but we shouldn't be shipping jack-squat with DHL considering what they are trying to do to our AStar and ABX brothers and sisters. Screw DHL.

DL hasn't had a FedEx discount since around 2005. Seems there was some kind of "My shwantz is bigger than yours" competition between some managers of both companies and as usual, the employees get left holding the bag.

I see you stopped reading after my first sentence. I went on to chronicle the many ways in which they blow. When I was using the discount it was $5 and change to "overnight" something but it usually took a few days to arrive.

What kind of discount do we (DL) get with Verizon? I tried to get it and the Verizon person said there was no discount with Delta. I couldn't find anything on Deltanet, either.

Thanks.

Go to DeltaNEt, Employees Connection, Discounts, Sparkfly (Employee Discount Program Partner), Electronics and Internet.

I recently bought a new Dell laptop. I used the DAL website to find out what I wanted and how much it was going to cost me. I ran into a snag when it came to finalizing my order. The Dell salesmen was able to beat the price of the DAL discount. In fact, he even admitted that there were better deals available. So I would always check with the vendor to see if you are getting the lowest prrice.

Guys,

IIRC, in the pre 911 days, FedEx used DL as much as possible for DH crews to operate revenue trips, and DL employees were given discount shipping privileges as quid pro quo.

Dl cancelled the discounted business tickets for dh business crews, and raised the prices to the equivaent of full fare. The FDX shot across the bow was to cancel interline shipping discounts for DL. Lose, lose.

Maybe it's time for both sides to re-think......FDX dh's a tremendous number of crews, and DL/NW folks do a lot of Xmas shipping.

Scoop and ACL, you guys seem to know a birdie on the 4th floor, why not run this by them?

Regards,
FD
