Richard Anderson today thanked employees who will be working to serve our customers during the Thanksgiving Day holiday period and discussed the impact of the global economic crisis. He said that we expect to reduce future domestic and international capacity as demand has declined.

But at the same time the merger gives us many more tools and a lot more cash to deal with those challenges,” he said in his Right from Richard message.

Many times in these threads we have read that Delta was expanding and getting new aircraft. Well here is the new reality. Hopefully things do not get worse. Look at the events in BKK and BOM. An old wise captain once told me when I started 23 years ago to never count a new airplane until it was on the ramp. Batten down the hatches and hang on. Good Luck to us all, we are in the same boat with holes in the bottom and we all need to work on plugging the holes. I am so tired of reading about which side has what airplane, which side is growing, which side is shrinking, what airplane is being parked, and what new airplane is coming. None of those items mean a damn thing on the way forward. Its all about money and being able to make money and borrow money money money money. Finance finance finance. For an interesting point look up the Delta cash position premerger and post merger. That is what really counts. Hopefully we are able to avoid Bankruptcy again. The big picture is KEEPING A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very thankful for this job. Happy Thanksgiving to all. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!!

Quite true. Lets see how it pans out.

They have made these announcements. Look for DCI to take most of the hits and frequency on the international side.
