well I am one of the 495 on furlough with Netjets....came to the conclusion that there are no aviation jobs out there that i can swing with a family...
i am thinking of getting into real estate sales? anyone have any experiences that they would like to share on this area....I do have a friend/company that i could work under for 2 to 3 years, before possibly branching out on my own business once i get the call back to duty with NJA...
I know its a pretty stagnated market right now, but have heard things are picking up?
thoughts? ideas?

A good friend of mine had set up shop back in 2003 in Raleigh. Him and his wife were "sales agent/broker" relationship. I was so jealous of them. They were raking in $$$ left and right. He was routinely closing 6-7 sales a month. That is more than 1/week. Their real estate "office" was more of a boutique, catering to high end clients. The guy had $$$$ coming from every which way. Effective March of this year, his business will no longer exist. It has virtually dried up. Luckily for them, they saved up money in order to live off of in case this happened.
Maybe consider car sales? A friend of mine is pretty successful doing that while on furlough from his regional. Good luck!

Hi Skyrider, I am currently a captain with a regional carrier and have been involved with real estate for the past five years. It is a great time to buy and hold for a long term investment. I do not recommend becoming a realtor in this market. I also have a network marketing business that is going great. Right now, so many people are interested in making extra money or replacing their current income and how to become healthier. This business tackles both of those issues. [deleted link]

Being a Real Estate agent is difficult right now however it is always a good idea to learn about RE and try to find a niche where you can make money. It is not always in sales.
You could also be a flipper, property manager, specialize in short sales. In any case learning as much as you can about the industry is never a bad idea but trying to make it as a RE agent in the current market is difficult.
Someone told me that the national average income for an RE agent is 14K per year.
