It used to be that Col's knew how to differentiate bragging from giving away the order of battle (how many airplanes on alert, where operated from, how long to each target, etc).

Absolutely unbelievable!! He should be fired on the spot for not having any SA on the concept of Operational Security. Gave away how many planes on alert, his area of responsibility, and his response time to each of the 3 major metropolitan areas he is responsible for. Unreal -- absolute idiot.

I was initially shocked as well...seems weird that he would give that much info up. But the more I think about it, it wouldn't take genius to figure most of that info out. But to just throw it out there is a little crazy.

The same way the rest of the numbnuts get promoted to O-6 (and above)...

Maybe he was not telling the full truth, or maybe it was just confirmed?

I'm not really sure that anyone listening to an O-6 speaking before a national audience needs to have anything confirmed by anonymous members of an internet forum. We don't exactly add much credibility to anything.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering how I could be listening to this stuff outside a vault. It will be interesting to see the ramifications of this.

The individual member doesn't get to decide what should be considered OPSEC and what isn't. I think it's still fairly common knowledge that a bunch of little pieces taken together add up to a lot, and even the stuff that "isn't hard to figure out" isn't thrown out there for easy public consumption.

100% agree! I was by no means agreeing with it...just thinking out loud. I was actually sitting alert when I found this article...everyone I showed was stunned!
