Ok Gents/Ladies,

Let's see if any of you knowledgable folks have the answer to this one, as it probably has affected the majority of you at some point:

Are travel expenses deductible for the initial travel from home to training?

i.e. I was hired, traveled from home (x) didn't start (not technicially employed) till I arrived at new job (y). City (y) is now my base as of the day I start, which is after the travel.

I understand commuting isn't deductible as I will remain living in city (x) and not technically moving to city (y), but is it considered a non-deductible commute since I haven't started yet?

Thanks for any help

Is the new job the same occupation as old job? If so I would consider it a job hunting expense and deduct it.
