Hello Atlas pilots,
I was just looking at the Atlas profile and I see that HSV (Huntsville) is listed as a domicile. Is this information accurate and if so, what kind of work are you guys doing out of there?
thanks,

Our primary flying from the HSV base is to/from LUX, and once a week (I think) service to MEX/GDL and return to HSV.
If you are at all interested in a job at Atlas, please do yourself a favor and start
with http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/hiring-news/51254-atlas-air-hiring.html
Get a large cup, glass, etc of your favorite beverage and go through the almost 3,000 messages. There are too many issues covered over those pages to discuss here...if (after you have read all of the thread) you have any questions, most of us will be happy to help in any way possible.
Good luck.

...
True, but the HSV guys that I know keep b*tching about their NBO layovers.
Which, come to think of it, pretty much tells folks everything they need to know about scheduling at Atlas. :D

How true you are...once you get to LUX, all bets are off!! I just didn't want to get into that discussion here. The other mega-thread discusses that in great detail.
anotherpilot,
Are you at AA, WOA, and the several others that are or going to be furloughing? I wish you luck...and I must tell you, that Atlas has temporarily suspended hiring. They did conduct three (??) days of interviews this week, but that may be to replenish or add to the hiring pool to draw when they start hiring.
In the mean time, though, keep plugging away at the other thread, and keep looking for the application window at Atlas to reopen.
Good luck.

Yep, I'm a World guy. Real shame what is happening over here. It's been a great ride but looks like it is coming to an end. Starting my search for the next great adventure!

I am a Atlas HSV based pilot and I live locally. Because of where i live, I try to bid a week on, week off line. My first day out is usually a drive to HSV with a hop over to LUX. From LUX I usually limo to Hahn 90% of the time. Places most frequently visited are Bagram, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Anchorage. I imagine HSV pilots do the same flying as JFK based pilots. There are lines that give you my preference and the 17 day preference. Good luck! I hope it all works out for y'all at World.

Whats the deal with World?
The company that owns them has filed BK, and is returning around 16 airplanes. I think at least 9 of those are World MD-11's. :(

What is going on at World is with the end of the Iraq war and subsequent troop reduction business has significantly declined. The decline in business has lead to parked airplanes and furloughed pilots and FAs. Anyone who reads a newspaper or watches cable news could see this coming (which is why I have diligently keep my logbook up to date ;)). My guess is that it will get even worse once the government pulls the troops out of Afghanistan later this year.

Slightly off topic, but for any of you Atlas HSV guys that might be looking, I have an open rental property 20 mins from the airport. PM if you want more info.

If you are referring to Crash Pad type places...Atlas provides air travel and hotel (and per diem while on Reserve) at our assigned base.

That's cool. Wish I had that at PDT!
I'm not really looking to turn it into a crash pad, but rent it out for a year or more.
