Does anyone know if the "experience refund" I (and probably many others) have just received from ALPA's Group Term Life and Level Term Life insurance is taxable?

I have searched high and low on Google and the IRS website, to no avail.

If you have an answer, could you please cite a reference? Thanks.

My guess is that because I don't write off my term life insurance premium on my tax return I shouldn't have to show this "experience refund" as income, as it's essentially a "retroactive rate reduction"
