To those who are considering a career move to QR or EK...

I've created and compensation calculator in Excel, which will allow you to calculate you monthly/yearly salary for Qatar Airways and Emirates Airlines. You can also calculate EOSG for both airlines. Emirates Airlines also has a Provident Fund Scheme, which is also included. The worksheet is free of charge. Enjoy!

One mistake with the EK figures is that you are actually fully vested in the Provident Fund after 7 years not 10. Besides that, nice job. Thanks for the info.

So Qatar does'nt have a Provident Fund or something similar?

Qatar does not have a Provident Fund.

Had EK change their policy? Per Emirates Pilot Briefing Document,

9.1 Benefits paid upon termination of employment

Less than 5 years service:
Provident Scheme benefit accumulated on employee's contributions only, plus ESOG Benefit, calculated at 21 days basic salary, per year service

Over 5 years service and less than 7 years service:
Provident Scheme benefit accumulated on employee's contributions, plus

Higher of either:

75% of the accumulated market value of Company's contribution
OR
End of Service Benefit calculated at 30 days basic salary, per year of service

More than 7 years service
Provident Scheme Benefit accumulated on employee's contribution, Plus 100% of the accumulated market value of Company's contribution.I did not include the employee's contributions in the calculation as this is your money regardless of your tenure at the company.

You MUST contribute 5% in order to get the 12% from EK, or after 10 years, the 15%.
The EK contributions are 100% vested after 7 years.

Nice work though. Thanks!!

The formula is wrong for all your 28 day EOSG entitlement calculations (you're still using the 21 day formula)

I'm not sure you're calculating the EOSG correctly. I don't work for either airline but most similar schemes are based on your final salary.

For example if you did 3 years as an FO and 10 years as a Captain at QR I think you'd get $134,500. Not the $95,000 you calculate.

Hey avi8torDude thats quite a neat excel program you created. Would be nice if you could add Etihad Airways to your program.

Thanks

I would be happy to include it, but I need all the relevant information (i.e. salary, hourly pay, ESOG, Pension, allowances, etc.). If you or anyone has this information, let me know.

Job Search (http://careers.etihadairways.com/ehire/English/Flightjob.aspx)

If you follow the link then you can find most of the information for Capt and FO i.e Salary and allowances. The only thing missing there is EOSG which is 5wks for every yr worked paid at your highest basic salary. There is also an internet allowance of AED 95 approx US$ 25 per month. There is no pension scheme at Etihad Airways.

Is Etihad giving more EOSG than what is required by law? Abu Dhabi Labor Law states:
http://www.abudhabi.ae/egovPoolPortal_WAR/appmanager/ADeGP/Citizen?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=p20166&did=20176&lang=en

End of Service Gratuity
If the employee has completed one year or more in service, he is entitled for the end of service gratuity of 21 days for each year of the first 5 years of service and 30 days for each year after that. It should be calculated based on the last basic salary. The total end of service gratuity, however, should not exceed the salary of two years. The periods of unpaid leaves are not included within the service period.

What i quoted is what it states in the contract. So yes looks like they giving more than what the law requires.
