We have a Proline 21 with electronic charts, plus both pilots physically have Ipads with Jepp charts, for a total of Two Ipads.

Do we still need to carry paper charts ? Reg cite/AC/etc ?

Thanks

On one hand, I say you're covered (part 91). As long as you have charts on two independent file servers, then you are legal. The enroute charts is where you get in trouble. The proline doesn't have enroutes, so either you keep a set in the airplane, or you have two separate Ipads. This is the way I understand it anyway.

This is not clear to me either. So many sources of information and opinions. I don't have the patience to read that whole AC.

But AFAIK, Part 91 there is no requirement for paper anything.

The current version of JeppFD for iPad has Airway Manuals, enroute and approach charts. Why do I need paper for anything?

We use two iPads with the paper enroute subscription, but I can't say if that paper is legally required. We keep it updated anyway.

I heard that in Europe the inspectors like to see paper (SAFA inspections, etc).

Can somebody say for sure?

If you are strictly part 91, then look no further than ac 91-78. The newly released 120-76b is for 135, 91k, 121.

Even in the Glbal Vision, we keeping the enroute paper charts. Everything else, including FCOM, FPCCM, AFM and maintenance is loaded into the Vision system. Plus, each pilot has an updated iPad. Pretty cool system, btw.
