Any news on Kalitta?
Not too long ago Kalitta Air put into service a new 747-400ERF and had their eyes on one or two more. Now for the last few months little word on any of the fourms and almost no word from the company.
How are things in general from anyone in the know? Any rumors being floated around about what may be going on from now until the end of the year?

They've been going to all the aero crew solutions job fairs. You can meet the CP, but not hiring at this time. They said they may start opening the app window by the end of the year. Hope that helps.

Convair5800...Thanks for the intel....At the Job Fairs...they are not accepting Resumes'....So...It's hard to leave any lasting memories...

The website indicated the possibility of some 3rd quarter activity.....Any chance of that happening? If you have buddies that work there that you HAVE Flown with.....How do I get them involved to position oneself for the possibility of the window opening up with little or NO Notice and closing before you can respond with their recommendations...etc...

I (probably like many others) was in line for an Interview in January of this year when everything just halted suddenly....

Still waiting for this opportunity because all of my buddies love it there and enjoy the flying and their fellow pilots....

Any suggestions...I'm holding out hope..

Heard from a little birdy that we got a 2 point something billion dollar military contract starting next month. The same birdy told me that there would be a bid for a few more 400 CAs and maybe a couple of FOs. Doubt it will lead to any hiring right away, but that birdy also told me that the sister ship to 782 is in the mix again. Dont know if any of this is true, but good luck!

Vacancy bid for 4 Capts and 4 FOs on the 400 just came out. I am guessing there are at least 4 Classic FOs wanting to come across to the Gucci jet, so probably no hiring for this.

I would agree... no hiring from this ...just a very small realignment

So when the next new hire class takes place would it be a split between the classic and the 400? Or one over the other? Sounds like the 400 is short staffed. Would this mean more and more guys and gals moving over to the 400, and any new hire would go to the classic?

That is too hypothetical to even waste time pondering at the moment.

As new airplanes come on property, there would more likely be a lot of movement to the 400. The classic flying is scaling back and I would guess that they will let the staffing adjust itself out on the classic, but if it would drop to a certain level they may hire off the street. If Connie picks up numerous aircraft in a short period of time, you could see hiring! Just my .02

Not really. there are enough FO's on the classic that would bid it to staff 3 or 4 more -400's without hiring into it, any hiring would would go to the classic.

My personal thought is that we will be only adding 400s in the future however as the Classics are paid for, they will fly as long as there is time left on the airframe. I think it is not possible to guess what we will be hiring into but my guess is the 400. It is a great job! The best job I have had!

Having said that, I heard a rumor of two more classics. It was told to me as a fact but out of all of the thousands of factual rumors I have heard only the bad ones came true. But if the Classic can still turn a profit, Connie could get them cheep!

I doubt seriously we would buy any more classics but there are 1 maybe 2 of the NWA birds that are locked and cocked ready to come out when needed. I would suspect they will enter the fleet as a couple of the older birds max out. Rumor a few weeks ago was that 715 ( great flying bird ) was probably down for the count.

As for hiring... who knows.... when and if.

I heard 715 was out, but engines sounds like the killer here for the classics, turns out they are running out of operable engines, so airframes will out live engines, so I hear.

well count on the next few classes for the -400 going to FO's on property, there are plenty over there that want to fly the -400, 18 months freezes are up for many.

He had bid on them and was waiting for the final word! As said, this is Connie's talent, he wont pay one dime more than HE wants to!! More than once, he has lost a bid and then someone could not come up with the financing and he was there to scoop them up!:D

you have to be ,nothing touches the Doug, though I admit to being intrigued by the C46, buddies of mine who have flown both are evenly divided on which is best, some backing the Curtis, others loyal to the mother 3.:)

True, if you're trash hauling. Long term ACMI, the -8 is worth $.04 per share per plane per month to Atlas's bottom line. So far, all planes spoken for.

it is a beautiful ship, and I hear the numbers work which is outstanding, parked next to CargoLux's newest back in March,at ELLX, all of 2 months old,a thing of beauty.

I thought Atlas walked away from them because they didn't want to be the first operator to have to work the bugs out of the first couple of airplanes out of the shop??

Twin Wasp

We walked away because they were heavier than spec (which is fairly normal for new models) and the fuel burn was higher than planned. GE has an update for the engines in the works but there's no way to lower the BOW.

haha, sorry. I guess it just depends on the day of the week. 1 day it's all sunshine and lollipops and the next day the "end days" are here.

Fingers crossed we see some new planes and upgrades...
