Seriously, layovers depend WIDELY on domicile, seniority and airline.

Was referring to a new-hire in those airlines. Assume Expressjet(EWR/IAD/LGA), AWAC(ORF/LGA), Republic,Shuttle,CHQ (LGA/DCA).

Especially when starting out, your layovers will be varied and scattered while on reserve. eventually, when you hold a line, you can bid for specific overnights and may end up with a line with the same city 9 or 10 times that month. Regional flying changes monthly, at my carrier we usually drop 3-5 cities and pick up 3-5 cities a month, out of the 70 or so cities we serve
