Hey guys,
Currently I work for a part 135 operator out of Juneau, AK. My job, like many up here, is only seasonal.
I was wondering if any of you had found that part 135 operators in the lower 48 are receptive to the idea of working only during the winter and retaining my job in Alaska during the summer.
Have any of you had experience with anything like this?
Thanks

Sorry I can't answer your question, but what companies up there hire seasonal pilots? What's the schedule, and do you get airline discounts if you are a commuter (i.e. live in MN)?

Just find another 135 seasonal job in the 48 during your off season there. OFF TOPIC question, do you get to see that hot girl off the discovery channel show? If so, spit some game for me. That could keep you there full time for sure.

In JNU, AirEx, Wings of AK, and AK Seaplanes comes to mind. In ANC, Rusts, K2 up in Talkeetna. Bunch of others, just need to look around some.
As far as the schedule, expect to get worked 5-6 days a week doing some of the most fun flying you can imagine. Don't expect to commute. That said, a seasonal gig can get some AK time in your logbook that can open doors to some full time gigs in other areas of the state that would be commutable.

I would look in Florida. Their business down there picks up in the winter months.

I'm actually headed back down there in September. I'll be doing some instructing down at Brown's Seaplane Base but in the long run I need something that pays a bit better

You work for Ward Air. Cool. I worked for Skagway Air for four years up there before they went OB.
You might look at The Whale, and there are a couple of operators in the caribbean that run twins mostly in the winter.
