I remember some rhetoric about Asiana not too long ago. Are they safe for DH between ICN and PVG, or is there a better option perhaps?

Flown them quite a few times now. Very good business and first class service. If you get a coach tkt IE ICN to PVG don't forget to do a personal upgrade to business for around $60. Well worth it in my opinion.

Can you use your dev bank to pay for that type of upgrade?

Thanks will do the upgrade, that's what per diem is for. Have you done that with corp travel earlier, or just waited until check in? FYI to whomever was asking...that doesn't qualify for deviation allowance...has to meet the parameters.

Then call them a few hours later to ask them to process the upgrade. Otherwise they "may" not get to it...

Good gouge from all! It used to be that Asiana and KAL where carriers that we did not use, and I continued that personally for years. I have a NRT-ICN-PVG DH later this month and I was actually about to search for gouge when I saw this thread! Thanks

Flew them First Class from LAX to ICN and because of the price they gave FX (scheduled, not Dev), they would not even accept my UAL FF #, nor let me join their program and get their points. Sent boarding pass to UAL and requested credit--no reply..
Happened again on another Asiana DH.

It even says "NO MILES" on boarding pass.

I requested asiana mileage credit from united in jan/feb and It took several weeks to get put thru. I got credit for an Asiana flight ICN to HKG business class automatically through united about 2 weeks ago. Both times, I called the asiana 800 number before the trip and had my united number added to my ticket.

On the pilot website, documents... Online forms. It's something like the personal upgrade request form. Corp travel won't process the upgrade without you filling out the form. As someone else wrote, stay on them to process the request so it gets done

Found it, thanks! Submitted the form. For a 2 leg DH (NRT-ICN-PVG), will they hit me twice?

Do you mean charge you twice? If so, no. Should be around $70 for the upgrade. And don't for get the Business lounge.
Also, now that you have the form filled out call CORP travel and ask them to processes it. Otherwise they may never get to it......

A new DH ?. Next month my sched has a DH from CDG to TPE on EVA. I went to their web site to see the seating etc.... and they show no seats on the flt at all. So what does that mean for Corp Travel?
Can they book a 14 hr flight in coach? Will they just move it to a different flight? Very interested to see how this plays out...
Oh...the accepted fare....are you ready....Bid X shows $641! Outstanding...

I called Global Travel, and they had done it, just hadn't sent me the email yet. The 2 leg NRT-ICN-PVG upgrade to biz cost $91.

Have you thought about just jumpseating on us to PVG? Flt 15 is a 777 and there usually is a MD11 just a little later. Everyone I've talked to that did the scheduled DH through ICN hated it even in business. You have to go through the whole customs/security drill in ICN and PVG. $91 is a very nice dinner with a few beers in almost any city we go to.

I'm gonna spend all my bank anyway, no matter what they want us to do. ;)

Ask if they will book you on Air France or another Airline Luft, KLM, China Airlines, you know, on one that actually might have seats available. :p

What I am thinking is as soon as a COACH seat becomes available they will book it in that class....13+ hours in coach...yaaa
And the contract lets them do that.....
Can you say fatigue?:(

My Capt called the Duty Manager and had them revise the trip to avoid 13 hours in coach. Had a 24h layover-DH-48h layover revised to a 48h-DH-24h s that we could travel on a day where FC was available. Might work in your case?

What is the duty?
I had the same issue, booked in coach on AA from ORD to DEL. Over 16 hours duty. Asked for an email from Global Travel, and rebooked on Air India ORD-DEL at a fare 4K over thee bank. Key here is you must travel on the same city pair.
I did this once out of LAX to TPE during the winter when the duty was over 14 hours. EVA only offers business, I rebooked on China Southern(?) in first class. The company will pay the extra that is over the bank. You can not device and use the higher fare. If you deviate form the city pair you only get the fare from the pairing.
Section 8 a. 4 iii
If the deadhead is scheduled for more than 16 hours duty, the following shall apply:
(a) The flight must be a non-stop flight; and
(b) A special booking priority shall apply to deadheads scheduled over 16 hours. That priority shall be:
(1) Discounted first class;
(2) Full fare first class;
(3) Business class; and
(c) The Company shall ensure that Corporate Travel (or any subsequent Company designated travel administrator) attempts to secure first class seating at the earliest practical point in the planning process. If Corporate Travel is unable to book first class at the time the initial booking is made, Corporate Travel shall notify the pilot who is awarded that trip, via e-mail, of the unavailability of first class.
Intent: Ordinarily, Corporate Travel will make the reservations for deadheads over 16 hours when the final pairings are complete. Often, and primarily in the domestic system, Corporate Travel waits until several days before departure to issue tickets due to the high level of deviation and the possibility of double billing in those circumstances.

Duty is 15:40. So unfortunately the above does not apply. Yet you said you did this LAX to TPE at less than 16hrs?? I thought if it was less than 16 they can do what they want????
If it gets booked in coach I will be calling the DO to see what can be done.....
I'll let you know...

Mine was during the winter, I guess winds made the historical longer and pushed it over 16.
