Wish you the best of luck.
I am going to say this, maybe a lot of pilots have tried it. But normally that is it, trying it. He had his own pipe and weed in his pocket. This isn't an isolated incident. You have to be smoking it quite a bit to get to the point that you go out and buy a pipe. His quote of "being in the wrong place and the wrong time" just shows he should choose a new career path.

And, yes, change your avatar.

Maybe he's just worried about the H1N1 swine flu?

I realize that i have made a mistake and all I can do is move forward in my life. I haven't touched pot ever since that day even though I think it's less harmful than alcohol. For those giving me words of reassurance i thank you and for those that scold me I would like to ask are you really that perfect? Yes I made the wrong choice but does that wash away all the good that I've done.. I'm going to represent myself in court and explain to the judge what I'm trying to accomplish in life and wish for the best. Hopefully he can see that I'm not an "drug addict" because I've already kicked the habit. In the long run if aviation does not work out for me which I hope it won't I will still have my business degree.

side note: No i will not remove the iceman avatar the man is my hero "you're too dangerous".

I'm one of the ones that said that America loves to give second chances - and no - 99.9% of people aren't that clean. But the above bolded sentences show that you are still making excuses. It doesn't come across that way to you - but if I were an employer and you mentioned these things in the same manner as you wrote them - you'd be out the door.

It doesn't matter Mongoloid if alcohol is worse in YOUR opinion. Pot is ILLEGAL. Alcohol is not.

Deflecting the scoldings with the "people who live in glass houses" mentality works great when you are raising your children, but will get you nowhere in real life - especially in a competitive environment.

Finally - you used the word "habit" above, yet in your initial post you talked about "wrong time, wrong place" (another poor choice of words). You should probably find anohter way to express yourself other than making it sound like you were a regular user who couldn't help yourself.

If you're clean now and you have learned your lesson then maybe you are worth another shot. I drank and drove when I was 17 a few times. Thank god I never got caught or caused an accident or anything of the other million things that might have gone wrong with that activity. Lucky for me - somewhere along the way I got a lot smarter, realized how stupid I was acting, and turned myself around. If you find yourself in this situation now Mongoloid, best of luck.

Excellent response USMCFLYR.

Mongoloid:

A sign of maturity is being able to take constructive criticism. I know you'll get there with time. All of us who are older, thought at one time or another that we were ten foot tall and bulletproof.

FYI - To the Division of Aerospace Medicine of the FAA, alcohol abuse is just as bad as narcotic drug abuse. Know this.

All the best.

"you're too dangerous".

I just wanted to quote lincoln

"The man that represents himself in court has a fool for an attorney and an ass for a client"

Do yourself a favor while you still have a chance focus on a new career fly on the side without the drugs. As I'm sure you already know now the stuff is just not worth the trouble. I suggest you go to med school ironically they don't test for drugs, go figure. The way the industry is going now by the time you get out of school maybe things will be better. I wish you the best of luck, your just young and as many of us where along with young is dumb, no offense
but your dream of flying is not dead in the water its just going to be alot harder to get a interview and also get thru an interview lots of explaining the stars will have to align just right.

Your avatar is very fitting for the response. I can't exactly disagree but it is what it is. Nice avatar.

You are a student pilot talking down to this kid like your a 50 year old 757 captain. You sound like a tool.

Mongoloid -Get this dropped, or dismissed, shouldn't be very hard since it happened at ASU........
I apologize for all these closed minded "I live under a rock" individuals. I am in my 20's and also am a Police Officer so I understand a lot of people smoke pot, and I understand what you are saying. A lot more grown adults,+ affluent, wealthy people smoke pot than anyone on this forum would imagine. If you get it dismissed or sealed on your criminal history, a future employer cannot see it. The only ones who can see the arrest history is a law enforcement agency running a III check through NCIC on you. Don't give up your dream over this. Explain it as a simple college mistake that you have only learned from.

Again the tools that are falling out of their chairs over the fact you smoked some pot in college, either live under a rock or didn't go to college.

Btw, what does my license and ratings have to do with being informed? Explain that one to me if you can.
