Default ATP SEL Addon?

If you have an ATP in a Multi, but just Private in SEL, can you do a checkride for an ATP SEL? Or would you have to do the single engine commercial checkride first?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure you would only have to do the ATP ride.

Like they say, FSIMS is your friend - see paragraph 2)

E.****Establish Eligibility. Determine if the applicant meets the specific eligibility, aeronautical knowledge, aeronautical experience, and aeronautical skill requirements for certification as an ATP (part 61 , subpart G, as appropriate).

1)****Determine that the applicant meets one of the following requirements:

· Holds at least a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating;
· Holds a foreign ATP or commercial license without limitations, issued by an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) member state; or
· Is a pilot in the Armed Forces of the United States whose military experience qualifies that pilot for a commercial pilot certificate under § 61.73 .

2)****Determine if an applicant for an additional rating holds the required ATP certificate.

The confusion came from paragraph 1: "Holds at least a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating" ... it does not specify in category or class. I have ME ATP and SE PVT w/ INST so I wanted to make certain it could be done, and it can.

Yes, it's just an add-on rating to an existing certificate. You already have an ATP certificate; just need to add a rating. You'd be able to do the ATP single add-on it even if you didn't have a private single.
