Default 141 Stage Check PRIA Reportable?

I thought I had seen somewhere that 141 stage check flights (end of course flight before your FAA ride) are PRIA reportable. Anyone know if this is true or not?

Stage checks are not but checkrides are.

unless things have changed since I was instructing at a 141 school, TECHINCALLY there really wasn't a "check ride" if you "busted" it was just another lesson, and you tried and tried again, thus the advantage of 141. You just complete the course and you get a rating/certificate

The EOC in part 141 is still considered checkride failures if you don't pass them. Like another sky poster said, stage checks are not. It's just retrain and retake.

From my understanding PRIA does not show stage checks or practical test results for a 141 or 61 program. If an entity want's to see the results of all of your practical tests and written exams they will use the FOIA which will show copies of 8710 forms, thus showing them if you ever "failed" a check-ride.

I'll be more specific. For stage checks a 8710 is not filled out therefore does not have consequence as far as checkride failure or 8710. Now the "final stage" or checkride for 141 a 8710 is needed therefore it's an actual checkride, however you want to call it, and is reportable and must be disclosed.

Furthermore, if you ever fail a "stage check" but never a checkride, it would not constitute a 'yes' answer on an application for "Have you ever failed a checkride?" If the question is "have you ever failed a checking event?" Then in the effort of full disclose you answer 'yes' with the appropriate explanation, and I can guarantee you it won't be a problem as long as you don't have a history.

Thats not quite true, if the school has self examining authority the last stage check is used as the "final check", but the 8710 is not filled out for it, Thats only in the case of no "self exam" and using a DPE. In the case of a school w/self exam, the 8710 is filled out based on course completion.

That's the first I've seen that. I know for a fact I filled out 8710's at 141 for self examine and external. Must be new.

If you don't fill a 8710 what form does the FAA get to process and file?

In either case, the answer remains the same. Check ride (however you call it) is PRIA and stages are not.

There is an 8710, it's just not filled out for the "check ride" and used at that time, it's filled out by the schools ACR (airmen certification representative), who issues the certificate.
