The VA considers me a disabled vet and I fly the line for a legacy carrier.

The right question is, "Can that person qualify for & obtain a First Class Airmen Medical Certificate?"

The nature of the disability may, in & of itself, preclude one from qualifying for the medical; medication related to the disability may be disqualifying (but the disability itself is not)--in which case, a change in medication might remove that issue; the disability could have no bearing whatsoever on the medical.

So, addressing your question exactly as asked, the answer is "Yes." To apply that to any individual or specific condition, however, can only be answered by your AME.

It was just a few years ago that several hundred airmen in California got busted when the FAA decided to do some spot checking between airmen with medicals, and those claiming disability. Some were claiming medical issues that they didn't cop to on medicals, and ran afoul of the regulation.

Be careful that whatever you do is disclosed and well above board.
