I emailed Steve (Arby) about what I was looking for, he called me back and made a suggestion. I ordered a pair off his website, which he shipped to me the very same day. I just received them today and they're great. I haven't flown with them, but just from driving I can tell that the glass lenses are great. Steve has great customer service. He'll point you in the right direction if unsure about which pair to get. Thanks Steve

I am Southwest Airlines pilot and I just opened a Serengeti Sunglass business where I specialize in "Pilot Friendly" Sunglasses. I definitely have the best selection on the East Coast. I can answer questions and suggest models based on pilots needs (headset style, face shape, etc).

All Serengeti Models are:
- Photochromic (get darker in Bright conditions)
- 2-year Warranty
- Titanium frame, or high-grade thermo plastics
- Non-Polarized and Polarized
- We do Prescriptions (big savings)

I will be starting video reviews on Youtube and my Facebook page shortly. I also will be putting out a great video about the negative aspects of using polarized lenses in a modern, digital cockpit.

If you want to know why you don't see Serengeti around the USA like you used to, it's because of Luxottica. There is a great 60 Minutes segment about how Luxottica basic own 90% of the World's sunglasses (Oakley, RayBan, Prada, etc... and most of the retailers like Sunglass Hut, Pearl Vision, Lens Crafters. If your not one of their brands, you don't get seen (few exceptions).

You can see it here:http://youtu.be/gDdq2rIqAlM or on my Facebook page: Flight Sunglasses

Prescription Serengeti Sunglasses are a great deal on my site (saves several hundred dollars).

Hope this is helpful,

Arby

Cool RX updates

To all,

Just some updates on Prescription Serengeti Sunglasses. I have helped about 15 people recently (most from my airline) with their prescription Serengeti Sunglasses that they use for flying or leisure.

So far:
- turn-around time has been about 2 weeks
- the costs have ranged between $300-$420 based on their frame
choice and whether single or progressive lenses (great savings)

Please send any questions my way. If I cannot answer them, I'll find someone at Serengeti labs that can.

All I need an emailed picture of your prescription to place your order.

Default Best sunglasses?

I had a pair of Serengeti's for five years, vermillion lens by Corning optics. They were great for glass, and saved your rods for night time.
Alas, in very short order, the temples broke. No parts support from Serengeti, particularly with a 145 mm temple. No beuno.

I walked into Sunglass Hut in MSP, told the girl there my plight, and walked out with a very nice pair of Oakley's, with vermillion lens, replaceable 145 mm temples, and a five year warranty. Best hundred and a quarter I've spent recently.
