Question Airline apps question

Hey gang,

Question regarding airlineapps.com:

Under the driving history section, there is a place for entering violations. Fortunately, I've never had anything worse than speeding tickets - but am unsure of what to put in the area for 'Disposition.' Any ideas and/or suggestions? I have been called for interviews, despite having two speeding tickets entered there, but want to make sure the disposition area is filled out properly should it turn into a conversation.

Thanks

On my app I put the number of points received. i.e. "2 points" and "no points". They are going to order a national driver record check, so I ordered my state records first in order to make sure that the infraction and disposition that I put on the app matched the records. My 2 infractions were more than 10 years ago, so I didn't even remember the exact infraction. Also, there are airlines that will ask you to order your own records and submit them with your app. Netjets for example.

I think disposition means the disposition of the case, ie did you pay a fine, plead nolo contende, is it still in court? What was the final outcome?

As far as driving records go, i don't think they keep records of tickets over 10 years old. I ordered my state one and all it had was a history of what licenses i had. My last ticket was over 10 years ago in this state.

Maybe if I show them the bill of sale for the car that got me in all the trouble they'll cut me some slack. Thanks guys.

Should you list speeding tickets that are over 10 years ago?

IMHO if they can't see it, there is no point in listing it. I'm not gonna tell them about getting caught drag racing when I was 16. Dead records are dead history, but be sure to tell them about anything they might see. I had a background check done on myself just to be sure.

I disagree. I listed everything, even stuff that was 15 years old and I had to guess about the place, infraction and disposition. They are just looking at honesty. If they question a ticket 10 years old in the interview, it is a great opportunity to show that you are doing your best to be honest and that it was a dumb thing you did as a teenager/twenties etc. This is all they care about.

For disposition, I put "fine paid." I honestly had no idea what town, county, etc I got 2 of my tickets in. Maybe Georgia, maybe Alabama...not sure. No earthly idea what the dates were on them either since they were a long time ago. So I guessed, then wrote that I wasn't positive of that specific data into the remarks. I tried looking up my own record and checking with my insurance company, but no luck since they were old tickets.

In terms of how far back to go...I recommend that you put everything down. This is nothing more than an honesty question on the application. They are going to look up your driving record regardless, so if that's all they wanted to know, they wouldn't bother asking you. Everyone gets tickets, so that's not going to scare them off. They're looking to see if you are hiding anything. If you're worried about something in your driving record, look at it this way: there's zero chance you'll get the job if you are caught lying. If you're honest, even if you have a ton of tickets, at least you have a shot.

They even asked me about my tickets as we went over my application in the interview, but they didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Apparantly it wasn't, since I got the offer.

If you order your national driver background check online, it says what your disposition was for the case. On mine it had two "Guilty" dispositions for my speeding tickets, and two "Adjudication Withheld" for the ones I took the class for in order to not get the points on my license. I agree with T-Bone, they don't really care what your driving record was when you were 16, they just want you to be honest. If you don't put it and it comes up in your background check... issues could arise. Besides it could be a good story in the interview. Good luck.

List all the tickets, lifetime.

One guy in my class listed more than 10 tickets. They asked if he had a #3 on his car and hired him for honesty

Another guy didn't have a single ticket in his life and they didn't believe him , and showed him the door.

List them all, no matter what your NDR report says or if they are off your record. They'll appreciate the honesty. Make sure you explain why you don't speed or break rules anymore.
