Default What gives...

So i'm a bit flustered due to many circumstances.. I'm sitting just under 3000TT, 2000 Turbine multi of which 1750-1800 of that is PIC time. I've got ATP mins plus some, I just haven't had the time (ok lets be honest, I haven't taken the time) to study for the written yet, and can't really afford to spend the week or 2 at ATP to do it all and the "ride". Over the past 3 years, I have probably put out over 300 resume's. They have ranged from anything from mins of less than 1/2 the time I've got to mins at or more than what I had currently. Regionals, fractionals, majors, corporate... I have tried it all and haven't gotten so much as a thanks but no thanks from any of them.

So whats gives? Is the ATP, even JUST the written that big of a deal with the times I have? (I'm pretty sure I know the answer, it'd just be nice to hear it from others)

Having an ATP puts you in the ATP stack as opposed to the non-atp stack. Once the ATP stack is done they will get to you if there are any openings still left.

you need to find the time to get your ATP...... I took vacation that I much would have preferred to spend with my family years ago and got my ATP..... just do it.

You have that much Turbine PIC without an ATP?? That's impressive sir! King Air by chance?

And the only advice I can give is get the ATP. Trust me when I say it's worth the investment.

Yeah, get the ATP.

If you were a 3000 CFI I might not expect the ATP, but with all that turbine and PIC it might make you wonder what's up.

Are you applying to regionals? They are in the mode of granting ATP's during new-hire training now.

Regionals probably won't take you because you are over-qualified. I don't believe in this, but their thought process is..."If we hire him, he is probably going to bail for the majors in 6-12 months having so much TPIC time." "All he wants is the ATP paid for and get some 121 time"

Sad, but it is a possibility.

Lots of part 91 work... Lidar, Geophysical, Low level NVG, etc etc

I figured the 500+ hours of 300' AGL Night Vision Goggle in the king-air's would of atleast gotten me an intriguing interest call from some place, as its not very often you have a non-military guy with NVG time..

Yes, all King Air 90 time.. i've also got 100-150 hours of C12/B200T time as SIC as well, along with some 421C time.. and an A&P

I haven't sent anything to the regionals in over 2 years due to thinking exactly what you said. Plus, it would be more than a 50% pay-cut for me to go back to a regional FO and financially there is no way I could afford to do that with our young family. Now when this ATP mins comes into effect and they "hopefully" raise their pay, then I will think about them again. (yea I know, fat chance)
