Thumbs down

OBAP Is a LOUSY, Organization whose CREDIBILITY is QUESTIONABLE at best.

They are NOT about Helping people with Ligitimate Skills and abilities. They will ONLY Help People THEY LIKE, and Those That Have A HISTORY OF TRAINING FAILURES.

Their So Called " CONVENTIONS" are just MONEY MAKING SCAMS and They Provide NO MENTORSHIP in terms of Career Advancement.

They are an Organization that is just into SMOKE AND MIRRORS.

Those of you that Lost Money, and were REFUSED REFUNDS, should REPORT them to the Better Business Bureau.

I agree... But what is the alternative? Refusing to go while the the people that do get jobs and you don't? How do we sufficiently protest it without sabotaging our own careers?

While people may question OBAP's and WAI's financial use of the money generated from these fairs, at least they are non-profit organizations that MIGHT use the money towards their mission statement. Job fairs such as FAPA and AeroCrew on the other hand are nothing more than profit machines taking advantaging of pilots and lifting the burden of interviewing from airlines.

To the OP, you might try this lady. I received an email from her within an hour of my call to their office. She was helpful albeit I wasn't asking for a refund.

As long as qualified and competitive applicants apply and don't hear anything for months or years from the airline hiring departments they will continue selling tickets.

I really think you should look into OBAP, VOLUNTEER at an ACE Academy in the summer, MEET members who are active and giving all they can to the community, PARTICIPATE in something to do with OBAP and at the very least meet its members that are varied but share a common goal to advance today's youth and create the generation of professionals that will replace us at the very least before convincing yourself and others that your statement is true. If you require more info. Please feel free to PM me.

Ps. From reading the beginning of this thread it does appear to have deficiencies in some things that involve your sign-up/payment/refund and those are valid issues. Hopefully enough people complain that they fix this.

Thanks and good luck in your endeavor

I attended this week and your post was in the back of mind. After returning home from the convention and reading your post again I have come to this conclusion. Your post is way off the mark.

I couldn't agree more. I didn't have time to expand on my post from yesterday.

My first interaction with OBAP was this week. I was very impressed by the convention and the job fair. I spent a few hours in the APDP (Aerospace Professional Development Program )seminars. I made sure to schedule my meet and greets so that I could attend the APDP events. The speakers at these development sessions cared deeply about getting out great content. There were no smoke or mirrors.

My friend and I received two hours of interview preparation from captains at major airlines. The interview prep provided by these OBAP members was outstanding and made this more than a job fair. We spent over an hour with one captain. His advice was valuable and I was able to apply some of the advice to a meet and greet I had the next day with a major.

I was very impressed with the Solo Flight program that OBAP has created. I got to meet a pilot who soloed and got his PPL thanks to OBAP scholarship.

I walked away this week wanting to become more active in this organization.
