Application: tickets that are off DMV record?
Hello everyone,
I'm filling out my first 121 application on Airline Applications, and I got to listing driving history. I have a couple of speeding tickets, all several years old. When I do my DMV driving record check (CA), it comes back clean. I guess the record clears after that many years, plus I did traffic school. Do I still need to report those tickets, or will the company check the DMV record and that's it? If yes - how do I go about reporting, I didn't keep the records, I don't even remember the dates/amounts, etc. Thanks!

List everything! I had numerous tickets and suspensions due to late payment. All were long ago but I still put them. Never had a problem. One recruiter even laughed about all the tickets but didn't stop them from hiring me. Be honest. You don't want to get turned down for not disclosing something that wouldn't cause problems anyway.
I just estimated the dates. You might be able to find them on the county website or give them a call.

I would report them. I went to driving school to get my 2 tickets taken off my record but still listed them (and the rough date). An Expressjet recruiter tried some scare tactic on me when I was in college a few years ago and told me that I can't get any more tickets (lol). Went to 3 regional interviews this year and none of them brought it up at all.
Either way, it's your choice.

If your 7 or 10 year DMV record shows clean, then don't list it. Airlines can't see tickets that fell off your state DMV's record. However, if you were ever arrested, booked or received a traffic violation that your appearance in court was mandatory, then list it regardless of the DMV record.

I had two speeding tickets from the better part of a decade ago and I believe my state only goes back 7 years. But I didn't feel like looking into it so I just listed them anyway. Honestly it won't matter at the regional level with the level of desperation going on.

Thanks, all! Seems that the overwhelming consensus is to list them anyway and let the recruiters laugh at it Seriously, if an improper U-turn 15 years ago is a problem, I can't see how any normal human can get a job ever! So I'll take a wild guess as to when the tickets were.
Along the same lines, college GPA? Seriously? Do they really care?
